Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. She covered many notable issues, such as the arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
